Chris Colfer, Lea Michele, and Cory Monteith will not be returning for the fourth season of “Glee.”
The three stars will be among those who graduate at the end of next season.
“You can keep them on the show for six years and people will criticize you for not being realistic, or you can be really true to life and say when they started the show they were very clearly sophomores and they should graduate at the end of their senior year,” show creator Ryan Murphy told the Hollywood Reporter.
He added that “more characters are leaving than are staying” come graduation day at the end of Season Three.
Other characters who will be in caps and gowns will be revealed on this season’s premiere on September 20.
Murphy says a good part of the characters’ plotlines will revolve around what they plan to do after graduation from high school.
