Chris Brown Performs at Grammys in Controversial Return (VIDEO)

VIDEO

(CBS)

Chris Brown performed at the Grammys on Sunday, dancing on a crazy set to “Turn Up The Music” and “Beautiful People.”

The high-flying medley ended with Brown doing an impressive flip.

At Staples Center, the crowd seemed to really enjoy it.

Viewers seemed split on Brown, as has largely been the case ever since he assaulted then-girlfriend Rihanna before the 2009 Grammys.

Trending on Twitter right after his performance: “ProudOfChris”…. and “#womanbeater.”

The audience liked it for sure. Recording artists like Jessi J and Nicki Minaj praised him on twitter. Talented young man.

He’ll always have his detractors. Don’t know why Gossip Cop is surprised by it. That’s the price he pays. But at the end of the day, there is a reason why he keeps getting nominated for Grammys and had a #1 album recently – he’s talented. His detractors will just have to deal. There are plenty of other artists to listen to.

i personally love chris brown. people should not combine personal life with professional. yes, he is an abuser but maybe he got help for that so people should drop the past considering rhianna did and she was beaten by him. people need to learn forgiveness (no wonder this world has hatred). he did amazingly and he has so much talent and i’m proud of him

Chris did a terrific job. It’s his work not his past. Everyone somehow or the other has made mistakes. It’s all a part of learning. You have to admit that guy worked his butt off to perfection. I hope that he learns to ignore those fools that are still trying to bring him down. He has paid for and still is paying by the law for what he did. He did a TERRIFIC job and that is it. The way he moved his body, I just know that he is sore.

  • Are you forgetting his not-so-long-ago explosion on the set of Good Morning America? Dude still has anger issues. If all we did was forgive so quickly, people would just keep doing awful things and their apologies would be insincere.

He’s a disgusting pig. I muted the sound when he came on, and I couldn’t care less if he sang like an angel.

“people should not combine personal life with professional” ?? Are you serious? I’ve heard Hitler could paint a nice watercolour, should we apply the same standard?

Wow can you tell us what Heaven looks like?????? Please

I think if you were asked the same question over and over and people weren’t interested in what you are doing now and aren’t interested in how you are trying to change that would piss you off too.You can’t say what you would do until you have walked in the other man’s shoes.I know you would never do that.Famous words of so many people in prison today. It is hard to stay composed when people only want to focus on you mistakes.

Did he bite anybody this time?

  • Phweston0269

I am not a big fan of his as a person, but his performance was terrific! May he learn from his mistakes and become a better man. Thats all anyone can ask.

I’m assuming that all the people excusing his past behavior are men because a women who has been beaten understands that a man like that will NEVER change his ways and the people that excuse his actions only encourage others like him. It’s sad that this world holds talent to a higher standard than morality.
