Chris Brown Sues Pickup Basketball Opponent For Extortion
Chris Brown is suing a onetime pickup basketball game opponent for extortion, claiming the man tried to shake him down for $250,000.
A man named Malcolm Ausbon sued Brown last year, alleging that the star attacked him over a foul call and declared himself a member of the Bloods gang.
Now, Brown has countersued, claiming he never instigated the fight — and that Ausbon admitted as much before starting a legal war.
According to documents obtained by TMZ, Ausbon’s camp sent Brown’s side a written demand for money before pursuing the case.
The letter reads, “Mr. Ausbon believes $250,000 will suffice compensating him for his physical and emotional injuries… Mr. Ausbon is placed in a position by the LAPD where he needs to decide whether he will press charges for aggravated assault and battery.”
It continues, “However, Mr. Ausbon prefers not to resort to filing these claims or the lawsuit. He would rather be compensated.”
Mark Geragos, Brown’s attorney, says that Ausbon said he’d keep the matter private if Brown agreed to pay him off.
When Brown refused, Ausbon sued him.
