Chris Brown Diagnosed With PTSD, Bipolar Disorder During Anger Management Rehab
Chris Brown’s time in anger management went successfully, the singer’s rehab facility told a Los Angeles court on Friday.During a probation progress hearing stemming from Brown’s assault on Rihanna, documents were officially filed explaining Brown’s diagnosis and treatment.
The center reportedly determined Brown suffers from Bipolar II disorder, insomnia, and post-traumatic stress disorder, concluding, “Mr. Brown became aggressive and acted out physically due to his untreated mental health disorder, severe sleep deprivation, inappropriate self-medicating and untreated PTSD.”
After 95 days in the rehab, five more than was required, Brown is handling his issues through proper medication and relaxation tecniques, according to the documents. The docs also say that Brown tested negative for drugs, including weed, throughout his stay, and commend the performer for his dedication to treatment, also noting his “attitude has been beyond exemplary in regard to his community service responsibilities.”
For his part, Brown seems to be showing what he’s learned on Twitter, writing earlier this week, “Thinking negatively only ensures more negativity in your life. It’s ok to be upset and get angry. It’s what u do with that energy that helps.” He also tweeted on Thursday, “Focused on my Recovery and Music… Nothing more, nothing less,” before asking for “prayers and positivity” for his court appearance.
But despite the positive report from the rehab, and another from his probation officer, the judge ordered Brown to go back to the rehab for another two months. After the hearing he vaguely acknowledged the decision on Twitter, writing, “Never really goes the way u plan. #LIFE.”
