Chloe Moretz is set to play the title character in a remake of Carrie.

The rising young actress has been offered the iconic role in a new version of Stephen King’s story of a bullied high schooler with telepathic powers.

“Never been so happy in my life!” she tweeted on Tuesday after news broke that she’d been tapped for the part played by Sissy Spacek in the original.

She continued, “Thank you [director] Kim Peirce and thank u MGM for the chance of a lifetime i will never forget!”

Moretz is no stranger to horror, having starred in 2010′s vampire flick Let Me In.

The 1976 version of Carrie is perhaps most famous for its portrayal of the single worst prom in history (VIDEO BELOW).

There is always room for a man of force, and he makes room for many.

Why are they rebooting this AGAIN? Are there no more original ideas in Hollywood?

Chloe is an amazing young actress. I saw her in the movie Let Me In and she was riveting. This girl will win an oscar one day.

  • Danny

They only did one remake and it was a made-for-television film. They haven’t done an actual remake for theatres yet. Hopefully it’s done right.

  • Regina1180

Yes they have. It was released in 2002 per IMDB.

That is the one that “was a made-for-television film” like Danny said. Read with more attention… Danny said that a remake “for theaters” has never been made.

  • Regina1180

I did read and it was a theatrical release. There wa also the “sequel” that was made in the late 90s as well.

  • Dr Snake

REALLY? Another remake of Carrie? Doesn’t Stephen King have, like, 732 novels that are ready to be made into movies?

  • Danny

Yeah, Carrie had a sequel in the 90s and the film in 2002 was made-for-television.

i really see no point of remaking this movie. the first one was not even good. the second one was just horrible. and then they made another CARRIE movie called the rage carrie 2. and now this is all ready the fourth CARRIE movie. how many of them are they willing to make. well hopefully this one will be alot better and more scary. but its nice to know that Chole grace moretz will play the lead role of carrie white in this one. excited to see how Chole will do. im, sure shell do great. shes an amazing actress. and who knows maybe Chole will make this movie really good. with better efects. and maybe it will be better acting. cant wait to see this. im, sure this movie is going to make me Laugh alot. and after seeing this i will make my carrie parody. LOL. the idea of carrie is just not scary to say the least. i see nothing scary about a girl that goes haywire and starts shooting bullets out of her eyes and killing every one inluding her mom with her powers. if this one sucks i hope they wont make another remake.
