Chloe Goins Drops Lawsuit Against Bill Cosby
Chloe Goins dropped her sexual assault lawsuit against Bill Cosby on Tuesday, though she could refile it at a later date.
As Gossip Cop has reported, last year Goins accused Cosby of drugging and sexually assaulting her at the Playboy Mansion in 2008. She filed a lawsuit against him in October, and a criminal investigation was launched. Cosby’s legal team denied the accusation, claiming Cosby was out of state at the time of the alleged incident.
In late December, it was reported that the two sides were in settlement talks. Then in January, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office rejected the case for criminal prosecution. The D.A. concluded there was insufficient and inconsistent evidence to move forward.
Now, however, Cosby won’t have to face the civil suit, either. He may not be in the clear for good, though. Tuesday’s dismissal was done without prejudice, which allows Goins to file again in the future.
The news comes as Cosby sits in a Pennsylvania court room for a dismissal hearing regarding the Andrea Constand felony sexual assault case. The comedian’s attorneys are seeking to prove to a federal judge that the aggravated assault charge against him should be thrown out. Meanwhile, Cosby is still facing other lawsuits, and was ordered Tuesday to sit for another deposition in Judy Huth’s ongoing case.
Cosby essentially won one suit just two weeks ago, when Renita Hill’s defamation lawsuit was dismissed with prejudice. The embattled star has also countersued some of the alleged victims.
