Chevy Chase Leaving “Community”

Chevy Chase is leaving “Community.”

The actor’s exit is effective immediately, although much of the critically acclaimed NBC sitcom’s upcoming fourth season has been filmed already.

It’s not clear how the show will address the departure of Chase’s character Pierce Hawthorne.

NBC and the producers of “Community” have not yet commented on Chase’s leaving, although his exit is being described in reports as the result of “mutual agreement.”

The actor’s three years on the show were marked by tumult and tension, including well-publicized clashes with since-departed series creator Dan Harmon.

The sitcom’s fourth season is slated to begin in February.

    I’m glad to see Chevy Chase is finally leaving the cast of Community. He made it so clear how unhappy he was doing the show. My coworker at DISH and I are wondering if his departure will help the show, or if it’s too late. I guess we’ll have to wait until the February premiere. I’m going to be checking it out on my DISH Hopper. It has PrimeTime Anytime which will automatically record the four major networks during prime time automatically so I don’t have to remember a bunch of individual show timers in order to catch everything. I wonder if they could bring back Dan Harmon now that Chase is gone.
