Chelsea Handler NOT Trying To Steal Jimmy Fallon’s “Tonight Show” Job, Despite Report
According to RadarOnline, Handler is “waiting in the wings” and “ready to swoop in to take over” as the host of “The Tonight Show.” A so-called “insider” is quoted as saying, “Chelsea is rubbing her hands together with glee over Jimmy Fallon’s fall from grace.” Of course, there’s been no such “fall” in ratings or with NBC executives.
Nevertheless, the webloid’s supposed source claims Fallon’s “drunken antics are starting to cast a shadow over the show, [and] Chelsea’s informed NBC she’s available to take over any time.” The tipster goes on to allege, “She’s convinced it’s only a matter of time before the network starts preparing for a back-up plan should Jimmy fail to rein in his boozing.”
This is all patently untrue. As Gossip Cop has repeatedly reported, NBC remains committed to Fallon, just as he does to them and the show. In fact, in August, Fallon signed a new contract that will keep him on as host at least through 2021.
Furthermore, Handler is going to be quite busy with her own gig. The former “Chelsea Lately” host has her own Netflix series that will begin streaming in 2016. And not only that, Handler said over the summer that she had no interest in replacing David Letterman on “The Late Show,” specifically stating, “I was not interested in going to a network. I was never interested in taking somebody else’s job.”
That would make Handler also not interested in going to NBC for Fallon’s job. In other words, this RadarOnline tale is wrong on all fronts. Which is why Gossip Cop was told it’s not just “stupid,” but also “clueless.”
