Chaz Bono on ‘Dancing’ Controversy: “I’m Just A Regular Guy” [VIDEO]

Chaz Bono appeared on “Good Morning America” today and said he hasn’t been “paying that much attention” to the controversy surrounding his selection as the first transgendered contestant on “Dancing with the Stars.”

“I think it’s a much bigger deal to everybody else than it is to me,” said Bono, whose mom, Cher, has been among his most vocal supporters.

For the critics, Bono’s message is simple.

“I’m just a regular guy,” he says. “All these ideas that children shouldn’t watch me, [that] I’m going to be confusing, all this stuff… it’s crazy.”

Bono will be paired with dancing pro Lacey Schwimmer when “DWTS” premieres on September 19.

    Sorry but how is this too much, too soon for kids? First, I don’t know any kids that watch DWTS. Next, they wouldn’t even know Chaz used to be Chastity unless their parents tell them- and in that case, that is the parents’ choice that they have to deal with. I think he handled himself very well in this interview & really is a normal person trying to do something fun.
