Charlie Sheen And Whoopi Goldberg To Star In September 11 Movie ‘Nine Eleven’
The independent drama, which begins shooting on Monday, will ironically be filmed on a soundstage in Long Beach, California, despite New York City serving as the backdrop. The majority of the movie, however, will take place inside an elevator. The plot of the film, which is a fictionalized account of a real-life event, sees the characters having to work together to escape their enclosed space during the terrorist attack.
According to Variety, the group of characters will be stuck in the World Trade Center’s North Tower, which collapsed around 100 minutes after being hit by a hijacked plane. Director and co-writer Martin Guigui tells the magazine, “We are immensely grateful to bring this inspirational story to life… We are fortunate to have such a gifted cast on board. Both Charlie and Whoopi are native New Yorkers who strongly identify with this story.”
Meanwhile, Sheen said of the film, “I feel deeply connected to the material and I’m so excited to be working with my dear friend Whoopi Goldberg.” Nine Eleven is expected be released sometime later this year.
