Charlie Sheen Pleads Guilty But Will Serve No Jail Time
7:01 pm, August 2nd, 2010
BREAKING!
Charlie Sheen pleaded guilty to misdemeanor assault on Monday.
The plea stems from a Christmas Day incident with his wife, Brooke Mueller, which allegedly involved a knife.
“I’m very grateful to the court and to the people of Pitkin County. I look forward to complying with the court’s decision, getting on with my life and putting this behind me,” said Sheen in a just-released statement.
In exchange for Sheen pleading guilty, prosecutors in Aspen dropped the more serious charges.
While he will receive a 30-day sentence, it will reportedly be “administered and executed” at Promises, the rehab facility in Malibu where Sheen stayed earlier this year. Since the “Two and a Half Men” star will be credited with his “time served,” he’ll reportedly check into Promises later this month before immediately checking out.
Sheen has also completed the 36 hours of anger management required under the plea deal.
The actor was initially charged with felony menacing, criminal mischief and assault.
