The father of “Glee” star Charice (Pempengco) was stabbed to death in her hometown of San Pedro, Philippines on Monday.

According to the police, Ricky Pempengco was in a store, in the town just south of Manila, when he accidentally knocked into a drunk man.

With no other provocation, the suspect then stabbed the “Glee” star’s dad to death in the chest and back with an ice pick.

The murderer is still on the loose.

While Charice and her father had been estranged, she’s still in deep pain.

The singer tweeted, “I am very sorry to all my fans from Singapore. I am not going to be there to be part of David Foster and Friends concert. I have to go back to the Philippines as soon as possible to be with my family. I hope you all understand. I love you all and I will see you next year.”

    How terrible!
A good example why you should never let things get to the point of being estranged with someone so influencial in your life…the guilt is horrible!
    God bless both of them…

Oh, damn, so sorry to hear about that – even if they were estranged. What a horrible way to go.

How do we know her Father was influential to her? Just because he was her biological father doesn’t have to mean he was an influential person to her. I know I have Father who has not been very influential in my life and who I have been estranged from in the past. While Its a terrible way to go, being murdered however I don’t think she needs to feel guilty for anything. We don’t know how he was to her, how he treated her or if she even new him at all. Being a Father is more then genetics and she has no reason to feel any guilt. Sadness and guilt are two different things

Hopefully, she will not feel guilt over being estranged-we have no idea why they were not in contact-so, it is hard to comment on something like that without any facts. That said, RIP to her father. We have no idea what kind of person he was, but this was a random crime, murder, not meant to happen. Hopefully, and this is not knowing how crime /police are in any of the Phillipines, I hope the lunatic is caught and taken out of the general public.

I knew someone would say this. Unless one has never met their parent, they are going to have emotional attachments to them. The fact that she was estranged means that there was bad feelings there…at least on her part. Onecannot hate or even feel anger towards another person without being emotionally invested in some way.
When I said the guilt is horrible, I stand by it. I didn’t say she did anything to feel guilty about, but its human nature to feel badly when something like this happens.
