Channing Tatum talks about his real-life history as a stripper in a new interview and shows off his moves in a special clip from Magic Mike, the movie partially based on his experiences dancing for cash.

The clips come from MTV’s recent Magic Mike event with Tatum and Matthew McConaughey, where the stars appeared in front of a crowd of women reacting much like the club patrons in the movie itself.

Tatum discusses how he and director Steven Soderbergh decided to make a stripping movie, how he first learned to dance and what his big “money maker” used to be on stage.
