As Gossip Cop noted earlier, this marks Chance The Rapper’s “Saturday Night Live” debut. For his second song, he was joined by his group The Social Experiment, which features Chance The Rapper, Donnie Trumpet, Peter Cottontale, and Nate Fox. Throughout Saturday, the member of The Social Experiment, or “SoX,” as they call it, tweeted out about how excited they were to play “SNL.”

Also, as Gossip Cop previously reported, Chance The Rapper retweeted several fans who pointed out that he’s the first independent artist to ever perform on “SNL,” meaning he’s not tied a particular record label. Chance The Rapper even posted a short video before the show with guest host Chris Hemsworth in which he talked about being independent, prompting Hemsworth to say he feels “like an independent person today, but I’m going to help you out.”
