Chance The Rapper “GMA” Video: Watch Performance And Interview!
Chance The Rapper made his “GMA” debut on Monday with a performance and interview. Check out the video below!
Chance sat down with Robin Roberts for his first-ever appearance on the morning show, opening up about his music career and social justice work. “I come from a family of organizers, and abolitionists, and social workers — just a long line of people that work in the community,” the star shared. “So it always felt integral to me to becoming a man to be a person of the people and put in work.”
The Chicago-based rapper noted that the “climate” of music and technology these days has allowed him to successfully meld both his passions. And among his fans is President Obama, who included Chance on his recently-released summer playlist. “I had no idea,” he told Roberts. “I didn’t see that coming. Probably the coolest playlist I’ve ever been on.”
As Gossip Cop reported, Chance performed a tribute to Muhammad Ali at the ESPYs last month. Reflecting on that now, he said, “It was one of the best moments I’ve ever had.” Now looking ahead to the VMAs in two weeks, the performer said he feels like he already “won” just by getting nominated.
“It’s an amazing feeling. I don’t really care about winning anymore. It’s just to have them notice me, it’s really cool,” Chance said. Following the interview, he performed “Summer Friends.” Watch below!
