Celebrities Pay Tribute On 9/11 — See Stars September 11th Anniversary Tweets
Friday is 9/11, the 14th anniversary of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. For many, the memory of that fateful day remains as fresh as ever. A number of celebrities are taking to Twitter to share their own recollections, express solidarity with the American people, and pay tribute to the thousands of lives lost.
President Obama, after a moment of silence in Washington D.C. (see below), tweeted, “14 years after the terrorist attacks of 9/11, we honor those we lost. We salute all who serve to keep us safe. We stand as strong as ever.” Along with a quote from John Kerry, Hayden Panettiere wrote, “#NeverForget #AlwaysRemember #Heroes #NewYorker #9/11.” With a photos simply saying “New York City,” Ivanka Trump, whose father Donald is running for president, wrote, “#NeverForget #IHeartNY.” Olivia Wilde went with an American flag emoji, followed by a series of hearts, while Andy Cohen posted a photo of the Twin Towers shining in all their majestic glory.
“#NeverForget911,” tweeted Connie Britton. Christina Milian posted on Facebook, “My heart goes out to all those affected by that tragic day 14 years ago. Friends and family lost too soon, but never forgotten…” Meanwhile, Carson Daly posted an image reading, “God Bless all who lost their lives. We will never forget 9/11.”
Samantha Ronson shared, “My thoughts are with New York City today, like so many others. I may not live there anymore, but my heart always will. #neverforget #911 #nyc.” And Carey Hart commented, “I remember exactly where I was the minute I turned the tv on. Will never forget this day, and I think it’s important to not forget. Not forget the innocent people that lost their lives, not forget the brave NYC 1st responders, and not to forget terrorists that did this. Thank you to our military that fight to keep us safe, and I hope nothing like this ever happens again.”
“Remembering the Victims of 9/11,” William Shatner wrote on Twitter. Snooki said on Instagram, “Remembering all of those we lost on 9/11. Never forget that tragic day and all the beautiful souls & courageous Heroes we lost that day.” She added the hashtag, “#restinparadise.” Sarah Michelle Gellar posted the quote, “”9/11 a day to remember that extraordinary heroes are often disguised as ordinary people and that spirit and soul are unbreakable.”
Mark Wahlberg tweeted, “#NeverForget #911 #GodBlessAmerica.” Hillary Duff commented, “Got a bit of a heavy heart today especially being in #nyc such a great city with brave, strong, resilient people.” Ellen DeGeneres similarly wrote, “Every time I come to New York, I remember how powerful the spirit of this city is. Especially today. NYC, I love you.” And Jenny McCarthy declared, “I will #NeverForget.”
“Thousands of lives lost and families shattered, a country in shock and a world forever changed. Remembering all of it and them. #NeverForget,” tweeted Katie Couric. Over on Instagram, Ashley Greene said, “We will never forget the brave souls who risked and lost their lives on sept 11th. God Bless America.” Kyle Richards noted, “This day always feels unlike any other…. Because we will never forget. We all remember where we were on that horrific day that changed all of our lives forever. Today we remember those that lost their lives.”
Leah Remini said, “Today we remember and honor the lives we have lost, we pray for their loved ones. Thank you to those who serve to protect us all.” Mariah Carey exclaimed on Twitter, “New York, I love you!” Julianne Moore posted, “I <3 NY.” And Sarah Hyland remarked, “I may be in LA but I will always be a New Yorker. Today my heart bleeds with memories and sorrow for anyone affected by that tragic attack.. 14 years. I cant believe that much time has passed. I can still smell and feel the ash residing for months in the east village.”
Lucy Hale similarly commented, “I can’t believe so many years have passed since day. Never forget 9/11.” Meanwhile, Alicia Keys posted an “Empire State of Mind” performance, writing, “Here’s to the greatest city in the world!!! #NeverForget.” Karlie Kloss tweeted, “Never forget.
