Celebrities Share Thoughts On Sandy Hook Shooting Anniversary
Celebrities are sharing their thoughts on the fourth anniversary of the Sandy Hook elementary school shooting in Newtown, Connecticut. See stars’ tweets and messages below.
On December 14, 2012, six educators and 20 school children were killed by 20-year-old gunman Adam Lanza, who forced his way into the school before turning the gun on himself after the rampage. On Wednesday, Newtown held a moment of silence in remembrance of those lost, with more than 200 people in attendance at a service held in the St. Rose of Lima Church.
Leah Remini wrote, “To those innocent souls lost 4 years ago today, we remember you and our prayers to the families.” Melissa Joan Hart similarly expressed, “Remembering these sweet innocent lives lost on this day 4 years ago! Let’s never forget and keep their memory as our reminder to be kinder to other and help work harder to create more good in this world of confusion! #wechooseLOVE #sandyhook #newtown #hugateacher.” Referencing how CNN anchor Jake Tapper posted individual photos of each person slain, along with their names and ages, Andy Richter tweeted, “I know it’s hard, but we have to look at each & every face @jaketapper posted & remember the brutality that ended those lives #SandyHook”
President Obama noted on Facebook, “Four years ago today twenty beautiful children and six heroic educators were killed at Sandy Hook Elementary.” He added, “Today, we remember them – the staff and teachers who responded to the danger in their hallways with strength and resolve, guiding the children to safety, even giving their lives to protect the children in their care. We remember the first responders who rushed to the scene to help, holding their own shock at bay because others needed them more. And we remember the children who held each other in the face of unconscionable evil; who, even as they’ve grown up in the shadow of this tragedy, will grow up loved and cared for more fiercely than ever.” And Alyssa Milano simply offered, “My thoughts are with their families. #HonorWithAction.” Gossip Cop will continue to update as more celebrities share their thoughts on the fourth anniversary of the Sandy Hook shootings.
