Celebrities React to President Obama Supporting Gay Marriage

Moments after footage was released in which President Obama said, “I think same sex couples should be able to get married,” a slew of celebrities began to share their reactions of Twitter.

Ellen DeGeneres wrote, “Thank you President @BarackObama for your beautiful and brave words. I’m overwhelmed.”

Neil Patrick Harris tweeted, “@BarackObama: President Obama announces his support for same-sex marriage… Bravo, Mr. President, and thank you.”

Jane Lynch said, “Obama: Marriage? Gay is okay!” She added, “Pretty darn happy today. Thanks Mr President, for supporting the dignity of my family and so many others!”

“Obama gets it right on gay marriage. Bravo,” applauded Alec Baldwin.

Tyra Banks noted, “A fierce day for my gays and my prez @BarackObama – way 2 stand up 4 luv for ALL!”

“Viva Obama who has just endorsed gay marriage. right on time drop a dime blow your mind,” said Sandra Bernhard‏.

Adam Levine expressed, “thank you @BarackObama for reminding us all that true leadership is not dead.”

Sophia Bush stated, “Thank you Mr. President. @BarackObama speaks up for #Equality today.

Ryan Seacrest retweeted an NBC News post that read, “In an interview with ABC News, President Obama said today: ‘I think same-sex couples should be able to get married.’”

Meghan McCain observed, “Even though he did it a little late under political pressure – very happy to hear the President come out in support of gay marriage.”

    I applaud the President for standing up and making his own decision. Not everyone is going to be engaged or agree with his comments. But, it is a step forward and he step out and did not wavier behind the curtain like so many on the right. I’m really happy for my gay friends/strangers/and family please know you are loved and supported.

    Well, just as I expected … All the Hollywood elite are as stupid as we thought. They actually believe this guy tells the truth. They don’t care about what he’s doing to America financially, they don’t have to worry about it! The majority of them can “buy” their way out of whatever they don’t approve. He doesn’t care about what a gay person wants!!! How foolish and stupid can all of you be? WHY did it take him 4years to say he approved??? Use your brains for once … It’s ELECTION year!!!!!! Also, if we all find out for sure where his religious beliefs really lie, all of you gays may lose your heads… Literally! Look it up! I don’t have anything against gay people either … My son is gay. What I don’t like is how my country is in debt more than ever (don’t start blaming Bush). This guy has NOT fulfilled any of what he promised he would do… NOT ONE THING!!!     It is very obvious that the tabloid story is all you have read about Mr. Obamas statement. Try reading a real story written by intelligent people that don’t depend on ignorant sheep to make a living. This was not a spur of the moment decision.He is not a man who speaks before he ponders anything. I believe if you will take the time to read or watch his interview in which he revealed his feelings about gay marriage and equality for everyone, you will see his religious beliefs are told. Why so angry at the celebrities? They, like You, simply stated their feeings. Who are you to call these people stupid?My gooness, settle down, and if possible get some help to deal with that crazy anger.

    Brenda … For your information, I don’t read tabloids, but obviously you do or you wouldn’t know what’s in them! I have read many different articles and books on this pres. and and his background. Pro and con. At least what we’ve been allowed to know about him. One of which was his own book, so who are you to judge me about what I know or don’t know? Anyone with half a brain would see right through his timing on his decision to speak out right now. If I were drowning, I would probably say anything to be saved as well!
    As for the celebs, I am not angry at them, just amazed how they seem to forget there are other issues as or more important than if a gay person gets to marry or not. Like I said before, my son is gay. I want the best for him in Every aspect of his life. So, for now, don’t judge me Brenda. Your last sentence was totally out of line as well as hateful.

    No one really, really knows Obama. We judge him by what we hear about him on TV and in the magazines — probably 99% of us have never met the man. We only hear and read what the spin doctors want us to hear — they are spinning THEIR OPINIONS. Some want us to hear good about him, some bad. But forming opinions about him based on what we hear/read is all we’ll ever really be able to do — so we really shouldn’t make comments as though we KNOW him. We will never really know him. The proof will come in the future when we look back on the term of his presidency and how our country fared with him as president — that’s when we’ll really know if he was honest and good or a liar and a bad person.

    Sounds like someone is desperate to regain favor with the American public! Remember, he also told Medical cannabis users in California he would protect them and their rights (I’m talk about people with cancer and MS who NEED a natural analgesic and something to help them keep food in their stomach after chemo, etc.) but yet he is now allowing and ENCOURAGING the DEA and other gov’t goons to come and raid and smash perfectly legal, documented, LICENSED cannabis dispensaries.

    Politicians are professional LIARS. Both he AND Romney have nothing but their own interests in mind. He doesn’t give a fuck about gays any more than he does about the cannabis users whom he exploited for votes!
