Shimon Peres, the former president and prime minister of Israel, died early Wednesday at the age of 93 after suffering a major stroke earlier this month. Celebrities are now mourning and paying tribute to the Nobel prize-winner. See stars’ reactions to Peres’ death below.

Barbra Streisand wrote a lengthy Instagram post, which began, “President Shimon Peres was a voice of reason who also happened to have the sensibility of a poet. Thoughtful and soft-spoken, but his words echoed loudly around the world…” Bill Clinton tweeted, “I will miss Shimon Peres, my brilliant and eloquent friend. His life was a blessing to all who strive for peace.” And Larry King expressed, “Fmr. Israeli Pres. Shimon Peres was a remarkable man. I was honored to interview him several times. My thoughts are with his family & Israel.”

Meanwhile, Paula Abdul offered, “I’m deeply grieved that Shimon Peres has passed away. Going to Israel was life-changing for me &I treasure the memory of my visit w/ him.” Josh Gad said, “RIP #ShimonPeres Very sad news,” while Morgan Fairchild noted, “Great loss for Israel & world-and for PEACE.” And Sharon Stone posted a photo of herself with Peres, adding, “Godspeed my friend,” along with a broken heart emoji.
