It is simply a matter of principle and pride. Why would Pacquiao, the reigning champ at that time, give in to an opponent’s demand who is trying to get his belt in the first place? There is mind game involved in boxing. Giving in to Mayweather’s requests would mean that he already dominated Pacquiao psychologically; half the battle would already be won by Mayweather if Pacquiao gives in.

Pacquiao stated that he would comply with anything / everything that the Boxing Commission requires of him. He doesn’t have to comply with Mayweather’s requests ….Mayweather wanted the drug test at 7 days before the game, then changed it to 14 days. Pacquiao doesn’t want to give in and counter negotiated with 24 days to which Mayweather didn’t accept. Neither of the men wanted to budge. Obviously, neither of them wants to fight against each other.
