Stars React to Lance Armstrong’s Doping Confession

Truth rating: 10

(OWN)

Many celebrities took to Twitter while watching Lance Armstrong’s “Oprah’s Next Chapter” interview, in which the former Tour de France champion confessed to using performance-enhancing drugs.

The disgraced cyclist’s doping admission elicited much disappointment, disgust, and — yes — humor.

Quite a few also commented on Oprah as an interviewer.

See what some stars are saying here!

Serena Williams: Wow. Watching @Oprah interview. Just WOW

Andy Roddick: Wow….. Oprah comes out very strong!

Carson Daly: Wow what a great 1st 20 mins to #Oprah interview with Lance. He is a cheater and liar. I’m embarrassed that I was such a fan for so long.

Anderson Cooper: Our guests at 10:30 on @AC360 have already identified inconsistencies in #LanceArmstrong’s statements so far.

Piers Morgan: The fact @lancearmstrong admits he had to look up what the word ‘cheat’ means, says all you need to know about the man. #LiveWrong

Matthew Perry: I always want to make sure Oprah is on MY side.

Lena Dunham: Despite the latest news my father will not stop using Lance Armstrong as an adjective for strength and determination.

Katie Couric: Former cyclist Joe Papp tried to get Lance to come clean for months, today he told me: “The guy’s still a hero-no1 pedals the bike for you…”

Vinny Guadagnino: Watchin this Lance Armstrong interview

Seth Meyers: Say what you will, he’s still the Lance Armstrong of d*ckheads.

Joan Rivers: Fair is fair. Lance Armstrong used performance-enhancing drugs to win the Tour de France while Oprah used him to win her time slot.

Rashida Jones: Great day for liars! They are dominating the news today. #CongratsUSA

Jesse Tyler Ferguson: I wonder if Manti Te’o ever got the “Thank You” bouquet that Lance Armstrong sent him.

Tom Arnold: A lot of sports journalists were questioning if Oprah had what it takes to thoroughly interview Lance Armstrong. The woman is shredding him.

Eli Roth: I’ve been doing dope blood since Cabin Fever.

Kirstie Alley: How’s the Lance Armstrong interview going?? I can’t get the Oprah channel …ugh

Jack Osbourne: Honestly I don’t care that Lance doped. He gave people hope and that’s more important then anything. So what if he lied. #livestrong

Rita Wilson: I want to know what or who taught Lance to lie? What created the person who felt such a need to lie?

Albert Brooks: When I rode tandem with Lance Armstrong I was on nothing.

William Shatner: “@SilverLimePhoto:If you were to admit a lie to Oprah, what would it be?” I took performance enhancing drugs before I defeated the Gorn. ;-)

Colin Quinn: Funny Oprah does a whole show about a cheater but never did a show about a hardworking honest comic who’s had his ups and downs. #hmmm

Seems like a shiity thing to do, but need and greed can consume the mortal soul I think I’ll just forgive it, hope that he is being genuine now, but maybe not loan him the keys to the family car. I cannot imagine many weren’t doping and I am not totally sure if it’s not still going to be used, so I hope it will be better monitored. while we are at it, all these actors suddenly sporting 6 packs, I am not think many of them are not using as well.

Oprah is an idiot and I could care less whether he doped or not. Apparently they couldn’t even give his awards to the second place finishers because there was a solid belief that they were doping as well. Sounds like the sport has issues if a good number of their competitors are doping. As for Lance; he lied and he shouldn’t have but I give him kudos for coming back from cancer the way he did. End of story. Now can we PLEASE for the love of God and all that’s holy let this go???????????? Enough; no mas!!!!

Not at all agreeing with his actions, however all of these celebrities gave a standing ovation at the golden globes for a former president. Remember… he lied and cheated too.

Lance Armstrong bullied others when the truth was going to be revealed. He is disgusting, because he took out the integrity of the sport and even if others were doing it, it does not make it right. He is arrogant and I hope at least if there is a saving grace in all this mess is that through his organization, it truly helped people who were ill.

Gosh… One thing a dislike in life is a lier and cheater. My Dad passed away 5 yrs ago from cancer, Lance was his idol. He would be devasted knowing about this if he was still alive. My Dad had the livestrong bracelet which I have now…. I’m keeping it because of sentimental value, if it wasn’t for that I would be burning it!

doping is not right no matter if everyone in the sports industry is doing it or not….all of us as kids had peer pressure to smoke and do drugs, does it mean we all do it? NO….but he did give hope to many who have cancer, that’s the only thing good that came out; but it isnt right to lie about it and deny all the accusations all these years

It was obvious to everyone but his diehard fans that he had been doping. Yes, it is wrong. Yes, it damaged the integrity of the sport but Lance didn’t single handedly take the sport down. The pervasiveness of the doping in the sport is bringing the sport down. Lance is an arrogant douchebag but he’s also a guy who has done a lot of good in this world. His doping does not take away the good he did by founding Live Strong. It doesn’t take away the fact that history of doping or not, the guy is still an incredible athlete. It doesn’t take away from the fact that he beat cancer and serves as an inspiration to cancer survivors. So, he’s complicated – not all bad, not all good.

This dick head was celebrated for years for his potential, kids look up to him, and he still getting attention from people all around the world whose defending him?!?! Well, I was right all along. Once moral stick on moral meter starts to falling down , door will get open to all kinds of badness and immorality, where everything is excusable , apologised ….where this going to lead?’ And how this going to end!
Wrong is wrong….stop making excuses and looking for reason to blame everybody else but a sinner. We are human, so we think, using our brain. But human race is able rationalise anything, what doesn’t mean that it’s ok and all right.

Ha! Good point. As is usual with humanity, I think it depends on whose ox is being gored.

He may have cheated on his wife, but he won the title of president all on his own merit. Lance Armstrong pretty much stole someone else life. If he hadn’t of cheated someone else probably would have won and maybe gone on to have the life that Lance did. All of those sponsor who were shelling out money to a rotten narcissistic cheat. The arrogance is still pouring of this guy, he feels not shame for what he has done, only shamed that he got caught.

Clinton also almost certainly sexually harassed Jones and Willey, used his secretary Bettie Curry like toilet paper, perjured himself, suborned Lewinsky’s perjury, tried to bribe Lewinsky by getting her a job at Revlon, etc.
