Celebrities React: Donald Trump Slams Arnold Schwarzenegger, “Celebrity Apprentice” Ratings
As Gossip Cop reported, Trump was forced to step down from his role as the “boss” on the NBC competition after he launched his controversial campaign for president. It was later announced Schwarzenegger would replace him, a move Trump actually endorsed at the time. But, prior to the election, Schwarzenegger said in a statement he wouldn’t vote for Trump, and encouraged voters to put the country as a whole ahead of allegiance to the Republican party.
And, well, Trump holds grudges. Even though Schwarzenegger recently defended Trump keeping his executive producer credit on the show, Trump sent two mean-spirited tweets about him on Friday, a few days after the “Celebrity Apprentice” premiere. “Wow, the ratings are in and Arnold Schwarzenegger got ‘swamped’ (or destroyed) by comparison to the ratings machine, DJT,” he wrote, referring to himself in the third person. “So much for being a movie star-and that was season 1 compared to season 14. Now compare him to my season 1. But who cares, he supported Kasich & Hillary.”
In response, Alec Baldwin wrote back, “It’s gonna take longer than we thought. Perhaps a lot longer.” Baldwin, of course, is a frequent Trump critic, and has skewered the mogul on “SNL” this season. Another vocal detractor is Tom Arnold, who now tweeted about Trump’s comment, “You’re going 2 only be president 4 Americans that voted 4 you? Root against the 3 mill more that voted for Hillary? Way 2 make America Great.”
Arnold went on in a second tweet, “@MarkBurnettTV @chucklabella @Schwarzenegger @nbc @MGM_Studios @EricVanWagenen A direct attack on your work. Loyalty only to Putin. Help me.” The comedic actor has spent weeks advocating for the show’s producers or former staffers to release whatever potentially damaging behind-the-scenes footage may exist from Trump’s years with the series.
Meanwhile, Sophia Bush retweeted MSNBC producer Kyle Griffin, who pointed out, “Today, Trump is receiving an important intel briefing on Russia’s interference in the US election — and he’s tweeting about The Apprentice.” And when Huffington Post politics editor Paige Lavender tweeted, “I truly don’t understand why he’s celebrating mediocre ratings on a show *he executive produces.*” Bush commented, “Also this…”
Billy Eichner tweeted to the incoming president, “You are the most insecure man who has ever lived.” Karrueche Tran also expressed, “The fact that our president elect goes on Twitter rants is f*cking mind blowing.” Implying that Trump is trying to overcompensate, Andy Richter wrote on Twitter, “He must have the tiniest d*ck ever.”
Richter went on to say, “In two weeks he will be the leader of the free world AND IT STILL ISN’T ENOUGH.” Judd Apatow remarked, “He calls himself a ratings machine. He is the President. He controls a nuclear arsenal. People need to wake up quick.” He even guessed, “I think his dad beat him senseless. People need to register to vote now. Tens of millions of people didn’t bother.”
And Schwarzenegger wrote in a response to Trump, “There’s nothing more important than the people’s work, @realDonaldTrump. I wish you the best of luck and I hope you’ll work for ALL of the American people as aggressively as you worked for your ratings.”
