Any tweets from the actual stars of the film?

  • Why do people have to take others’ innocent lives? If they can’t seek help, they should at least leave everyone else out of the equation. It can happen anywhere but it hurt too much for me to live in CO and I left a few weeks ago. Too much tragedy and sadness.

  • Perdita

except for ppl like Bodhi Elfman whose first tweet about it was to wonder what medication the shooter was on! I mean, really, who reads about children being shot and immediately goes to ‘how can I use this to support my pet theory?’. Really makes you think about how Scientologists see other people.

  • Anonymous

There really isn’t any words on how tragic and sad this is. It’s crazy that just 7 hours ago I was getting out of the theater for the Dark Knight Rises griping about it and wake up to this when I got up for work at 7am. It’s insain. I hope this scumbag gets everything that is coming to him in this life and whatever after life he winds up in.

  • Tim Autumn

    Totally agree with Donald!!!!

  • Jennyb

You never know what is going on in peoples heads, so I agree with Larry King. How the hell can someone get a machine gun. Thoughts are with the families of this tragic event.

  • Anonymous

dam shame this had to happen. but this situation as well as all others involving a gun are situations that can be eliminated if theres a repel of the second amendment. the NRA is the most powerful special interest group in the country. if you breaks their backs, if you hold their feet to the fire, then owning guns and possesing them becomes impossible. all the public school shootings, all the “stand your ground” situations, all the late night clubbing/house party flareups will have a lot of survivors without guns being presently available. i’m angry at this kunclehead but i’m also tired of the families that say something has to be done when the solution was ALWAYS in their face!

  • Anonymous

i have the same question, how bout it someone….

  • Kristy

I’m Australian and Australia has some of the toughest gun laws in the world.. We still have gun crime but it dwarfs in comparison to the US.. Repealing the second amendment won’t have the effect you want, it won’t eliminate gun crime completely especially since you’ve lived with the right to bear arms for as long as you have and there are so many violent gangs over there..

The change you and others want won’t come until all Americans realise you’re no longer owning guns for “the security of a free state”… You’re owning guns to protect yourselves from each other

  • http://twitter.com/llerena51 mercedes llerena

BECAUSE THIS GUNS STORES SELLERS ,THE ONLY THING IMPORTANT FOR THEM IS THE MONEY, SELL, SELL AND MORE SELL

  • Javi

They don’t have twitters. And have actually released PUBLIC statements so..

  • Javi

He should’ve killed his damn self

  • Anonymous

Exactly. In America guns are a right, when you give power to someone like that, humanity will eventually suffer, like what happened here. I’m from Australia too and thank goodness for our laws.

  • Javi

Maybe but here we actually have crimes where people’s home get broken into, people get stacked, robbed, raped? Kidnapped etc where they NEED. Again for protection. in many cases here if people didn’t have weapons they would’ve died. If someone had a gun at that theatre they couldve easily taken out that gun man. Unfortuantely that wasn’t the case but I do think they should testing and evaluations from now on before people can even carry a gun. But even then that fool would’ve gotten it illegally. He is a sick son of a bitch and I wish our justice system here would stick in ass in a movie theatre and have someone tear gas him and shoot him ass then he will know how it feels.

  • Kristy

Javi don’t assume we don’t have the same sort of crimes here in Australia because unfortunately we do.. But people tend to use objects they have around the house (kitchen knife, cricket bat) or whatever they have on them when they’re out (keys, perfume, their own fists) to defend themselves against attackers.. It’s not a perfect solution but it’s better than having everyone running around with a gun.

The point is, it’s really sad to see that so many Americans feel the need to own a gun not “for the security of a free state” as was originally intended in the second amendment, but to protect themselves from their fellow countryman

  • Javi

I AM AMERICAN. So the fact you think you know we feel shows you know nothing about what goes on here in OUR country.

  • Lol

I agree javi. Some people think they know all about us Americans. They don’t. We can’t help we live in a free country. If someone had a gun at that theatre legally as well. Like myself then someone couldve taken out that gunman. Either way it’s a lose lose cause you don’t have to legally own a gun to get one. Poole can get a gun either way. You can stop everyone in the country from owning one. My house was broken into once and I could’ve been killed in my own home if it weren’t for me having my gun with me. I feel safe with my gun. Perfume, fist and knifes don’t hold up to a bullet.

  • Bex

Do you and Javi honestly believe that we dont have break and enters, hold ups, rapes and murders in our country also???? Just a week ago there was an armed man holding his wife and kids hostage not to far from my home, the police issued a warning for people to remain safe and dealt with the armed man without anyone needing to get hurt. What Kristy is saying is that we dont have nearly as many problems such as yourselves “because” we dont have everyone running around with guns. Yes people can still find ways to get guns but our laws lessen these types of crimes due to the fact that people have to go to a hell of an effort to get one. You may see Perfume, Fists and knives as silly but we have learnt to try and protect ourselves that way and we let the Law deal with the rest and quite frankly we see the fact that anyone can own a gun just as silly as you see our perfume. Clearly you are not alone in your thoughts but there are also many Americans that dont agree with you either.

While I don’t think tighter gun control laws would have prevented that man from bringing a gun into the theater, I do think it would have prevented him from bringing in a gun that could shoot 50-60 rounds a minute! You don’t need a gun with that capability to hunt or protect your life or property. A gun like that should not be available for sale to anyone other than trained military members for use in a war (even the police don’t need a gun like that). That would have dramatically lowered the death count. If you think that if you had a gun with you in that theater you could have taken out the gunman without injuring or killing innocent bystanders in a crowded movie theater with a panicking crowd running in all directions and smoke canisters going off impairing your view, you really need to rethink that. You must likely would have made the tragedy worse, not better. Banning the sale of assault style weapons would not impact your freedom to own a gun, just your freedom to own a gun that you would have no legitimate purpose to use.

As an American, I find it interesting that Kristy, who is not American, actually seems to know more than Javi, an American, what the 2nd Amendment actually says, which is “you have the right to own a gun in a militia”, not “you have a right to own a gun”.

  • BillRhodes

Actually I’m a trained shooter. And I have been trained in situations similar to that. If you paid attention to the news lately try SAID. witnesses SAID. He walked OUT the theatre then came in. And there the gas into the front row. THEN shot up the in Roof. By then i KNOW I would’ve shot him. Some people in the front row new it was serious once they saw the gun being shot up ad the first victim being shot. I don’t need to rethink something that would’ve been a natural response for myself. Or I would’ve risked used and tackled his ass to the floor. He could’ve been overpowered. But of course not everyone in the world is the same as me. What me and javi are saying tho… Is regardless of what law are set people can STILL get guns illegally. It cant be stopped. Just like when I was my daughter was in high school and the school next to hers a boy that night was shot and killed in a stand off with police and they found out he was intending to go over to BOTH schools and kill people JUST LIKE the shooting at the school in Colorado. He had OVER 200 rounds and over three automatic guns. He was only in middle school and he was planning on coming into the level when my baby girl was in class at from the by walking thru the football field that adjoins the schools. He got a gun and he sure as hell wasn’t of age. And if the officers hadn’t caught him he would’ve take far more lives than anyone could imagine and my daughters. There are pros and cons to anything and everything. I feel the MAIN problem in this case was the fact He had went to the exit went to his car got his weapons and came back. I remember going to theatre all the time thinking to myself what would I do if someone did that exact same thing and that same damn day u turn in the tv to hear about this. It’s very scary to think I ha just thought of that to myself. He theatre near my home people can exist and enter VERY easily. The alarms don’t go off or anything. If there were alarms for the exits like they have for school buses and they better security from now on at theatres that can be prevented. And could have in that instance. But the main thing is people like this would have found another way to kill people. He is a LUNATIC. Noone can stop people like that. But I feel try need to make and change laws about firearms now definitely. Will it help? Probably not but it is worth a try.

  • Javi

    Agreed!

  • Javi

@cinchi. Actually she doesn’t know more than me. It says we have a right to bear arms. Worry about yourself and get a life.

  • Marine4life2000

In réponse to “BillRhodes”. I understand what you are trying to saying, however, no offense, but you are speaking out of anger and what you would want to do, but not what you would do. Not saying either that you wouldn’t have tackled him, maybe, maybe not. However, I’m a U.S. Marine, Infantry and Martial Arts/Close Combat Instructor, been deployed overseas for nearly a decade and multiple combat tours, so I know what I’m talking about. You say you would have tackled him, and granted you may be a professional/trained shooter, but that has no relevance on the actual situation. The situation being that a guy came in, fully armed, caught everyone by surprise, not to mention a few people stated that they thought it was just an act until bodies started to drop. And I’m pretty sure, that from how it sounds this lunatic had it all planned out, he probably shot at the people closes to him first. So with all this going on, its really foolish to assume that even you would have attempted to tackled this guy, who was armed to the teeth. Sorry my friend, but you probably would have ducked or bolted it, or at most, if you were with family, maybe thrown yourself on them to protect them, like some people did. But trying tackle the guy. Yeah, I highly doubt that. Even I would have had to take a few seconds to access the situation, and from the accounts it seems that a few seconds would have been to long. And I’ve actually been in combat. Semper Fi! -U.S. Marine Corps Sergeant OIF/OEF

  • Marine4life2000

In response to “cinchi”. With as obviously carefully planned this lunatic had, do you think he actually bought a gun that can shot at that capacity. Don’t you think he would have foreseen that it would possibly draw him unwanted attention before he was ready to strike. I highly doubt that. No offense, but first you need to go and learn a little more about weapons. I’m a Marine Infantry Sergeant, and our Armorers have at times made modifications to our weapons so when we are in combat they will shot better and at times even faster. When I first learned about how he had a weapon with that capacity, and having already learned about how book smart this lunatic was, the first thing that popped up in my head was that he had done some modifications to the weapon. Obviously, not being an actual professional, that is what ultimately, and thankfully, caused his weapon to jam. Even making your own rounds (ammunition) increases the percentage of you hitting your target, since when making your own rounds, if done correctly and each one measure exactly chances of not hitting your mark when also using proper firing techniques are slim to none. Since ammunition bought in bulk from stores is sold from manufactures that have machines doing all that work. But when you make your own ammo, and having the exact same measurements gives you better shots, since even 1 grain high or low, which is usually the case from store bought ammo, can cause your shot to be off. The only reason I mention all that, is because I wanted to let you know that I truly do know what I am talking about. Having laws against the capacity of a firearm, would not have made this go any different in my opinion. Like I said, this guy prob had some sort of knowledge on how to modify his weapon. What I still don’t understand is how he was able to purchase all of the weapons in such a short timeframe and that didn’t cause the dealerships to call someone. I would think that it would be cause for concern and raise a few red flags.
