Celebrities React: Bernie Sanders Endorses Hillary Clinton For President
Bernie Sanders officially endorsed Hillary Clinton for president on Tuesday, vowing to help her stop Donald Trump. Now celebrities are reacting to the Democratic candidates coming together.
Speaking at a rally in New Hampshire, Sanders said, “Secretary Clinton has won the Democratic nominating contest, and I congratulate her for that.” The Vermont senator went on to explain why Clinton must be the next president of the United States. And now the primary stage of the 2016 election is over, though the Democratic National Convention is still to come.
In response, Debra Messing exclaimed on Twitter, “UNIFIED! #WeCanDoItTogether.” Rosie Perez similarly tweeted, “Yay! #StrongerTogether @TheDemocrats @HillaryClinton @BernieSanders.” Justin Mikita also posted, “STRONGER TOGETHER! History! Fired up! #imwithher.”
“Yaaaaasss! #StrongerTogether,” said Beth Behrs. Minnie Driver remarked, “Am loving watching @HillaryClinton and @SenSanders /@BernieSanders in #NewHampshire unity is the only way2 vanquish Trump #StrongerTogether.” And Sharon Stone shared, “#proud to have @BernieSanders on board.”
Melissa McCarthy expressed on Instagram, “Bernie endorsed @hillaryclinton!!!It makes me shout for joy from the rooftops of NYC!!!!” Back on Twitter, Eliza Dushku simply said, “All together, now.” Meanwhile, Sanders supporter Susan Sarandon has been vowing to keep “fighting.”
And perhaps needless to say, but Trump also had comments on Sanders’ endorsement. The presumptive Republican nominee wrote on Twitter, “Bernie Sanders, who has lost most of his leverage, has totally sold out to Crooked Hillary Clinton. He will endorse her today — fans angry!”
He went on in a second tweet, “I am somewhat surprised that Bernie Sanders was not true to himself and his supporters. They are not happy that he is selling out!” Check out video of Sanders and Clinton’s joint appearance below.
