Celebrities React To Amtrak Derailment
Celebrities are taking to Twitter to share their thoughts on the Amtrak train derailment that killed seven people and severely injured more than 140 passengers on Tuesday in Philadelphia. The New York-bound train, which was traveling from Washington, went off the tracks, flipping to its side and tossing its 238 passengers and five crew members. Officials concluded that the train’s axle snapped, causing the cars to catapult off the track.
Some stars have a personal connection to the tragedy. “Melissa Joan Hart tweeted, “Praying for all the people on the Amtrak train that derailed in Philly,” noting, “My son and I were on that train a week ago and it is upsetting to see!” Zedd wrote, “omg so sad to hear about the #Amtrak accident… :( I SAT IN THAT SAME TRAIN YESTERDAY FROM PHILLY TO NEW YORK.”
Olivia Wilde, who said she’s been taking “that exact train route” since she was a kid, took her grief out on the government, tweeting, “Tell your reps to reject stupid budget-cuts for Amtrak.” Sugar Ray Leonard wrote, “So sad to hear about #Amtrak. My heart goes out to those on that train and their families.”And Montel Williams expressed, “Here’s the thing: clearly as part of investigation of a fatal train crash, one must look at ?’s like r we investing enough in rail safety.”
