Celebrities React: Donald Trump’s Alicia Machado “Miss Piggy” Comments
Celebrities are slamming Donald Trump after former Miss Universe Alicia Machado said he called her “Miss Piggy.” See stars’ reactions below.
Machado’s story was first brought to light by Hillary Clinton at the presidential debate earlier this week. She’s since done several media interviews about her alleged interactions with Trump in the late 1990s. Machado won Miss Universe in 1996, and claims Trump would body-shame her by making cruel remarks about her weight.
Among the nicknames allegedly used were not just “Miss Piggy,” but also “Miss Eating Machine” and, in reference to ethnic stereotypes, “Miss Housekeeping.” Machado says the derogatory comments contributed to her struggles with anorexia and bulimia. For his part, Trump hasn’t denied saying such things. In fact, he essentially double-downed on Tuesday, complaining that Machado was “the worst” and had “gained a massive amount of weight” during her reign.
Now celebs are expressing outrage over Trump’s treatment of her as it relates to his run for president. In response to Trump calling out Machado’s alleged weight gain, Eva Longoria posted, “Meet the former Miss Universe Trump called ‘Miss Piggy.’ Register & vote like Alicia Machado #sheslays #Imwithher.” And “Glee” star Jenna Ushkowitz said, “‘Explaining’ that Alicia Machado’s attitude was terrible after being crowned, still doesn’t justify why you have to criticize her weight.”
Among Trump supporters, though, Ann Coulter brought up allegations about Machado’s past, tweeting, “Alicia Machado accused of driving get-away car in a murder attempt & trying to kill a judge. So glad she’s a US citizen — and Hillary voter!” Gossip Cop will continue to add more celebrity reactions.
