Planned Parenthood’s “Pink Out Day” is for “reproductive rights supporters to show their defiance against the relentless attacks on Planned Parenthood” by “anti-women’s health politicians.” Says the organization, “It’s a day for people to unite and say: We resist. We are strong. And we’re not backing down, not today, not ever.”
On social media, participants are updating their profile photos to have a pink filter and sharing messages about pledging support for Planned Parenthood. There is an online letter to Congress people can sign, and activists are encouraged to wear pink in public and take a #PinkOut selfie. With many taking part, “#PinkOut” has been trending on Twitter for most of the day.
Charlize Theron told her followers, “Send a simple, clear message by changing your profile picture: I Stand With Planned Parenthood: don’t take my care.” She went on to write, “I’m joining Planned Parenthood to #PinkOut the internet. I #StandWithPP & the 2.5 million who rely on them.” Theron’s altered profile photo is pictured above.
