December 1 marks the first global Giving Tuesday, a day dedicated to giving back. Celebrities like Jenny McCarthy, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, and Joe Jonas have taken to social media to promote their causes and encourage their followers to do the same. See how stars are giving back below.

Shaquille O’Neal asked his followers to help support Toys For Tots with a simple retweet, “Help #PlayItForward to kids in need. For every RT, @ToysRUs will donate 1 toy (up to 125K worth of toys) to @toysfortots_usa! #GivingTuesday.” Holly Robinson Peete promised she would call and thank anyone who donated a tablet to her autism organization. She wrote, “#GivingTuesday y’all! I’m personally calling anyone who donates an $88 tablet! #autism.”

Nikki Bella tweeted, “The most important part of being a @WWE Diva is helping others. N #GivingTuesday.” And Yoko Ono encouraged her followers to donate towards ending world hunger. She wrote, “Help end hunger this #GivingTuesday. Text the word IMAGINE to 50555 to donate $10 to @WhyHunger #ImagineNoHunger.”

McCarthy said on Twitter, “I challenge you to support autism families @GenRescue. Get 10 to #Give10 at http://generationrescue.org #GivingTuesday.” Meanwhile, Bette Midler promised her fans a personal “thank you” for their donations. “Looking for the perfect birthday gift? Join us at Stages for Success: #GivingTuesday, and I will say thank you!” she tweeted.

Kevin Bacon and Jesse Tyler Ferguson both tweeted their support for No Kid Hungry, saying, “Black Friday, Cyber Monday, now #GivingTuesday! Help me make #NoKidHungry a reality this holiday season – Donate: http://nokidhungry.org/givingtuesday.” Tim Gunn encouraged his followers to think of their donation as an investment, “It’s #GivingTuesday! I just invested in #NextGenDesigners @cooperhewitt. You should too!”

Charlie Puth tweeted about MyMusicRx, which delivers bedside and online music medicine to kids with cancer and other illnesses. He wrote, “Psyched to support @MyMusic_Rx on #GivingTuesday #MusicHeals.” Jonas asked for help with the Boys & Girls Clubs of America. Along with a picture of him with a group a kids, he said, “Excited to team up with @JCPenney and support @BGCA_Clubs on #GivingTuesday. These kids are amazing!”

Jesse McCartney asked his followers to help the Red Cross and keep those in need warm: “#GiveWithMeaning – $15 could provide @RedCross blankets for 3 people #GivingTuesday.” Malin Ackerman tweeted, “Make opportunity possible on #GivingTuesday – Help a woman start a business, change her life & impact her…” And Emmy Rossum made sure her animal friends weren’t left out. She wrote, “Make a difference w/ a donation to @BestFriends. All gifts today are matched. #GivingTuesday”
