Celebrities are showing their support for Giving Tuesday, a concept that began in 2012 and stresses donating to any charity of one’s choice. The charitable event, powered by social media, comes on the heels of the consumer-driven days Black Friday and Cyber Monday. See tweets below from stars who are encouraging people to give.

Alyssa Milano tweeted, “Investing in our children means a brighter future for all. Join me & #StandForHope on #GivingTuesday.” Cara Delevingne wrote, “This #GivingTuesday I’m donating to @GirlUp to help refugee girls in Uganda to go to school.” “It’s #GivingTuesday & I’m partnering up with @PayPal! Help out a cause close to your heart by donating,” expressed Ashley Benson. And Kerry Washington offered, “Happy #GivingTuesday! Help me end financial abuse, bid on this @ToryBurch #PurplePurse. #FreeToWalk #Kerry4PurplePurse.”

Debra Messing said, “Heading to Times Square to ring in today’s NASDAQ! Happy #GivingTuesday #PSI #AIDSfreeGeneration.” Meanwhile, Richard Branson wrote, “Nothing quite like the gift of giving. When you see its impact, it’s the best feeling in the world.” “It’s #GivingTuesday everybody! A day to give back after all the turkey and gluttony and shopping,” expressed Melissa Joan Hart. Bill Maher offered, “On #GivingTuesday consider $ for @projectchimps. They are providing a sanctuary for up to #300Chimps coming out of biomedical research.” And Shania Twain tweeted, “It’s #GivingTuesday!
