Celebrities Hit Twitter On Election Day: GO OUT AND VOTE!
It’s Election Day in the United States! And while the midterm elections don’t have quite the same hype as presidential years, millions of Americans are still heading to the polls to cast their ballots for candidates and issues. Celebrities have been tweeting up a storm, encouraging everyone to get out and vote.
Kim Kardashian tweeted a picture (see right) with a cartoon version of President Obama, noting, “I’m standing w Obama in the midterm election 2morrow!” We’re pretty sure Kardashian knows Obama is not actually up for election this time, and simply wanted to turn him into a character from her “Kim Kardashian: Hollywood” game. Plenty of other celebs chimed in, too, asking their fellow Americans to do their civic duty. Check out some of their tweets below!
“Vote MOFOS! I know, I know… ‘It takes too long.’ ‘I don’t know any of the issues.’ You can’t have an opinion if you don’t have a voice,” wrote Justin Timberlake. And Dax Shepard tweeted, “Attention All Lazy Dinguses: get your ass to a polling station today. Vote. The majority of Americans are rational, they just don’t show up.” Gabrielle Union added, “VOTE!!! Let your voice be heard… do not silence yourself. .. do NOT surrender!”
“Never stop caring! Apathy Kills,” urged Kerry Washington. Eric Stonehill, however, joked, “DON’T vote!” And “Weird” Al Yankovic noted, “I normally don’t get all political, but I encourage everybody, please – vote for the less objectionable candidates.”
Pharrell said, “Voting is a right we can’t take for granted. If you want to make change, you have to act. Go to the polls and let your voice be heard.” And Queen Latifah tweeted, “Make it your duty and use your power for GOOD to go out and vote today! #electionday” Zach Braff reminded some that “marijuana legalization is on several ballots.”
“Today is the day! Go out and vote!” exclaimed Kim Kardashian, while Many Moore stressed, “You can’t complain if you don’t participate. Get out there and rock the #vote today, folks!”
