Celebrities Divided Before Donald Trump Hosts “SNL”
Celebrities seem divided on Donald Trump hosting “SNL” this weekend.
As Gossip Cop reported, NBC announced last month that Trump would host “Saturday Night Live” on November 7, joined by musical guest Sia. There was an immediate blowback given some of the presidential candidate’s controversial remarks, particularly his comments about Hispanics. Eva Longoria later faced her own backlash after arguing that Trump has every right to host the show, before clarifying that she didn’t support it.
This week, John Leguizamo said he’ll never watch “SNL” again, while George Lopez spoofed the situation with a Funny or Die parody. Now, with just hours to go before the broadcast, many stars have taken to Twitter with mixed opinions. Of course, some shared funny messages, too, such as Arsenio Hall, who wrote, “Don’t forget SNL tonight @georgelopez.”
Andy Lassner admitted, “Can’t decide if I should skip Trump on SNL or hate-watch it.” Bette Midler tweeted, “Trump is hosting SNL. I’ve got an idea for a hilarious sketch – Donald Trump as the frontrunner for President! LOL no, that’s too insane!” And Kevin Nealon cracked a few days ago, “Our next president should be elected solely by the best performance on Saturday Night Live. #SNL #Candidates.”
“LET IVANKA HOST WEEKEND UPDATE,” Billy Eichner amusingly pleaded, before tweeting, “I’m ok with Donald Trump on SNL but I am NOT ok with ISIS on Lip Sync Battle!!!” “Modern Family” executive producer Danny Zuker wasn’t okay with it at all, declaring, “Unless Lorne plans on dropping a bucket of pig’s blood on @realDonaldTrump’s racist head I’m sad to say I’m done w/ SNL. #WeHadAGood40Years.”
And Michael Pena posted, “Disappointed in #SNL for having poorly chosen a hate mongering host. #nevergofulltrump @SNLorneMichaels.” Meanwhile, Mara Wilson remarked, “As a Jewish lady, I have to wonder if Trump would have made it on to SNL if he’d called my people criminals.” Debra Messing responded, “Good question…”
