Celebrities are showing their support for Day of the Girl. In 2011, the United Nations declared October 11 as the International Day of the Girl, with its mission to help girls and women all over the world to show leadership and reach their full potential. See below what the stars are tweeting in honor of this significant day.

President Barack Obama offered, “On International #DayOfTheGirl, we remain committed to providing what we all want for our daughters: a future of limitless possibility.” Michelle Obama tweeted, “I’ve had to learn that my voice has value. And if I don’t use it, what’s the point of being in the room?” Meanwhile, Hillary Clinton wrote, “Every girl – in every country – deserves to get an education and each her dreams,” while her daughter, Chelsea Clinton, added, “We are long overdue for equality for girls and women. Grateful to all working to give girls a voice.”

Katy Perry offered, “Investing in girls helps them build better lives and creates a more peaceful and prosperous world for all.” Melissa Joan Hart wrote, “Let’s celebrate #DayOfTheGirl! #whorunstheworld?” Mark Ruffalo expressed, “Yea Girls! I am honored to know so many strong, smart and courageous GIRLS in my life. Additionally, Melinda Gates tweeted, “I’ve turned my Instagram over to Aminah, a youth activist from Uganda.” Ben Stiller commented on photos depicting young Syrian refugee girls dressing up in outfits for their dream jobs, along with the caption, “This is awesome. #DayOfTheGirl.” Connie Britton shared, “Happy #DayOfTheGirl! Never been a better time to think of the ferocious power and energy that girls can and will contribute to the world!” And Rosie Perez stated, “Celebrating #DayOfTheGirl!
