Cee Lo Green “Robin Williams” Song Pays Tribute To Late Comedian And Other Dead Celebrities — LISTEN HERE!
“Robin Williams” is the first single off Green’s upcoming album Heart Blanche, his first record since 2012. The solemn song references a number of famous stars who have passed away, including Chris Farley, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Richard Pryor, John Belushi, Phil Hartman, and, obviously, Williams. The lyrics include lines like, “We don’t know what the next man is going through/Life reminds me of Robin Williams/We’ve got to laugh the pain away.”
As Gossip Cop reported, Williams committed suicide in August 2014 at the age of 63. In a statement, Green says, “‘Robin Williams’ is a homage to our humanity, centered [on] the strength it takes to smile in the face of adversity.” Heart Blanche is slated to be released on November 13, and will feature collaborations with Mark Ronson, Charlie Puth, Eg White, Wallpaper, and John Hill.
The album will mark Green’s return to the music spotlight following a relatively low profile in recent years. Aside from his gig as a judge on the NBC music competition show “The Voice,” which he left last year, Green’s last original album, The Lady Killer, was released back in 2010. He put out Cee Lo’s Magic Moment, a collection of Christmas covers, in 2012. Listen to Green’s new song “Robin Williams” below, and tell us what you think of Robin Williams being Green’s inspiration.
