Cee Lo Green Apologizes For Rape Tweets
As Gossip Cop reported earlier, the former “Voice” coach got into a Twitter argument over the weekend, in which he mind-bogglingly suggested it doesn’t count as rape if the person is unconscious.
The outrageous comments stemmed from Green recently pleading no contest in a case alleging that he drugged a woman with ecstasy in 2012 without her consent and then had sex with her.
Green initially deleted his tweets and then deactivated his account after a backlash, but he returned to Twitter on Tuesday night with an apology.
“I truly and deeply apologize for the comments attributed to me on Twitter,” wrote the performer.
He went on, “Those comments were idiotic, untrue and not what I believe.”
As the firestorm grew on Tuesday, it was confirmed on that TBS had canceled his reality show “Green’s The Good Life,” though some reports stated the axing occurred before the current controversy, due to a poorly-rated first season.
What do you think of Green’s apology?
