Catherine Zeta-Jones Stuns Hotel Guests By Rehearsing Show Tune in Lobby

“Catherine Zeta-Jones serenaded husband Michael Douglas and friends at Hollywood’s Sunset Tower Hotel by singing tunes from ‘A Little Night Music’ at the lobby piano,” reports the New York Post.
According to the paper, “Catherine stood at the piano for an hour. She kept on belting out ‘Send in the Clowns.’”
Hotel guests were “stunned to see her, but then sat in the lobby listening,” adds The Post.
Other outlets picked up the story, and similarly portrayed it as an “impromptu hotel show.”
Well, the story is not entirely wrong, but it’s certainly not entirely right either.
It’s true Zeta-Jones sang “Send in the Clowns” a bunch of times at the hotel, but Gossip Cop has learned that she wasn’t just putting on a show for Douglas and hotel guests.
We’re told Zeta-Jones had scheduled a rehearsal there, because she wanted to practice the song before she performs it on Saturday at “A Fine Romance,” a charity benefit that she’s hosting at the Sony Studios for the Motion Picture & Television Fund.
It’s too bad a number of outlets were off-key with their reporting.
