It was a busy night for Underwood, who co-hosted the awards show with Brad Paisley for the seventh consecutive year. During their opening segment, Paisley relentlessly asked the pregnant Underwood to reveal the gender of her first baby with husband Mike Fisher. After she finally whispered the news to him, Paisley indirectly revealed to the world that Underwood will be having a boy, joking that she “can name him Garth” after country music legend Garth Brooks.
Beyond hosting, performing and breaking the news about her family life, Underwood was up for three CMA Awards nominations on Wednesday. The singer was nominated for Female Vocalist of the Year Award, as well as Musical Event of the Year and Music Video of the Year. The latter two nods were for “Something Bad,” her collaboration with fellow country superstar Miranda Lambert. As revealed on Wednesday’s “Good Morning America,” however, Underwood did not win in those categories.
