A standout performance from Carly Rose Sonenclar on Thursday’s “X Factor” proved good things come in small packages.

The petite 13-year-old stunned the judges and audience with her mature-beyond-her-years take on Nina Simone’s “Feeling Good.”

The sultry rendition earned Sonenclar the very first standing ovation from all four judges this season.

Britney Spears was the first to dish out some serious praise, saying, “Miss thang, you are a little diva! You were unbelievable. You can see all of us are completely in love with you.”

L.A. Reid noted that Sonenclar “may be 13, but your soul is old,” and Demi Lovato said she was ready to buy the teen’s music “right now.”

And Simon Cowell found himself in utter disbelief.

“That’s not you singing,” he told Sonenclar. “Somebody is behind you singing that song.”

He went on to add, “A star has just walked out on that stage. ”

Needless to say, the judges unanimously voted Sonenclar through, with Cowell saying she earned “4,833″ “yes” answers from everyone in the arena.

This girl was amazing. Her life just changed for ever.

    I agree! What a voice!

  • speak_the_truth

Yeah but she’s a professional. Look her up on IMBd and her page on Wikipedia. She’s been performing since she was 2 years old either singing, acting or dancing.

  • Michelle

that doesn’t change the fact that she’s only 13 years old and an amazing singer

wow wow wow!!! Can I invest in her? My GOD if I were to hear her on the streets I would have sold everything and signed her so I represent her in her NEW career!!! She’s like a winning horse if you place your bets on her you’ll win everytime!

I was blown away. I googled her after x factor was over and that’s when I saw what “speak the truth” saw. She’s a pro. A broadway and tv star. This explains her lack of nervousness on the x factor show, however, that takes nothing away from her truly amazing talent. I’m just waiting to hear the other x factor contestants complain. Probably debatable whether she should be competing on x factor, since she is a pro, but its on them at x factor to make the rules. Anyway, I look forward to watching this delightful, supremely talented young lady take off on a long trip of success. I just hope she’s not one of these kids who’s parents push into all these acting and singing lessons, without a choice, and rob her of a normal childhood due to their obsession with making her a star. Scary, but it happens.

I didn’t find it very impressive at all. I didn’t find the song to be anything special. I don’t get the standing ovation.

  • Fan62

you’re nuts. what planet are you from?

  • Fan62

She blew me away too. I looked her up like everyone else, and was a bit disappointed to learn that she’s already an accomplished star. She sang the National Anthem at the Mets game, for goodness sakes! That’s not a gig for amateurs. I had thought X Factor was supposed to be a platform for amateurs seeking to get their foot in the door. I think this is a cheat, to be honest. Be that as it may, I think she is a phenomenal talent and hopefully this will be her star turn, because I want to be listening to her voice for the next 50 years.

  • TJ

Not sure how much the change would be because she’s already pretty accomplished on Broadway. Here’s her singing the national anthem at Mets game. That’s pretty big deal.

You did find that THIRTEEN YEAR OLD impressive? She was outstanding! Such a big, mature voice for a young teen.

  • Georgia

    Damn. She KILLED it! Fantastic.

auburnbooklover, the reason you failed to comprehend the music? The song is simple, but the music is complex and it’s delivery even more difficult for a professional adult singer with years of experience you moron !

I agree with you, I like this little girl but honestly I’m wishing a true amateur can get their turn. This girl will make it on her own and does not need the X-Factor. I think this is bit of a cheat too, but it doesn’t surprise me because with stage parents with money these kids go far.

  • Holly

She may be accomplished with Broadway performances, but this still doesn’t take away from the fact that she is 13 and has worked hard to get to this point. She is simply phenomenal and I take my hat off to her for all the hard work and commitment she has put into get here.
As ‘accomplished’ as she might be did anyone know her before she came on on Xfactor? I think it’s only fair to give credit where credit is due, and I think she deserves to be there, she has worked for it and I wish her well.
