Carly Rose Sonenclar was joined by one of her personal idols on Wednesday’s “X Factor.”

The 13-year-old contestant shared the stage with country singer LeAnn Rimes, who also started out in the music business at an early age and went on to become the youngest-ever Grammy winner.

Together, the duo performed “How Do I Live.”

“I love this girl so much,” Rimes said afterward. “She’s such an amazing talent.”

Added Sonenclar’s mentor Britney Spears , “They were shockingly amazing. So good!”

    What a poor choice to duet with an amazingly talented 13-yr-old. I have no idea what in the heck Britney or the producers were thinking when they made that decision. LeAnn was terrible, and it wasn’t a great song for Carly’s voice either. In the end I don’t think it will matter. CRS will have a career. I’m rooting for Tate to win the show – he’s already paid his dues.

    Leann sounded horrible. That right there is reason enough to say starting so young is not good for you. I think Carly has a terrific voice but at 13 I truly believe she is too young to be thrown into the world of pop music.

    Omg it was like watching an anorexic anna Nicole smith when she had that tv show stumbling around and slurring. Stupid home wrecker they should have picked someone else for her. Britney couldn’t do it because Carly would sing her under the table.

    LeAnn did look drunk or high, it is sad; we look at her and it seems like she is so fortunate, a great career, money and living a life of luxury. We all bear our own crosses and have skeleton’s in our closets. It seems one of her skeleton’s came out tonight.

    She definitely looked like she was on something and like she was going to cry. When they showed Britney I thought she was experiencing a bit of de ja vu from the VMAs back in ’07 or ’08? The whole thing was awkward, Carly handled it well

    I had recorded the show and just watched the duet and thought maybe I was imagining that something was way off with Leann. So, I googled ‘leann rimes drunk on xfactor?’ and got a ton of results. So, I guess I wasn’t alone in seeing something way wrong with that performance.

    Really felt for Carly, though. Not sure what was wrong, but it was the wrong night to screw up :(

    Whinehouse Whinehouse Whinehouse……… It’s all I am going to say about that… I think Leann screwed that up for Carly and that’s is horrible and if so then I hope when Leann gets her head straight and she reviews this performance she will see how badly she let Carly down when she is so impressionable and innocent. Nothing like an idol to be under some influence on the night they have to have a ” moment” with you. What a shame and what a waste -_-

    I can not believe the producers let Leann even go on stage! She was most definitely on something and at the end would not stop touching poor Carly! Leann was like “I just wanna wrap you up and hold you” to Carly while she was hugging her and Mario Lopez was like “you are” he knew something was wrong. Leann has been in the news lately because her husband is trying to take their kids away form her because she’s so drunk all of the time! Why didn’t the X Factor producers do their homework. At least Carly is a professional!

    Jenn I don’t agree. If anything, Carly won more hearts out performing Leanne, who was obviously unstable. It only reinforces the inevitable. Carley truly has the XFACTOR.

    That was the whole problem with her performance – she was trying to outsing the little girl and she COULD NOT DO IT! Whatever you would call what she was doing, it was not singing. That LeAnn Rimes is a pitiful person. I really feel sorry for her, regardless of what she’s done in her past. If someone who loves her doesn’t intervene in her life soon, she’s going to end up being another Hollywood statistic.

    I reran it a couple of times to make sure of what I’d seen. Something was wrong with LeAnn…she was medicated or drunk or high. She was on the Leno show the night before and mentioned she was fighting a cold, so it could have been cold medication. But, regardless, her performance was awful, and her weirdness totally took away from Carly’s last big performance. I felt bad for Carly…

    I agree that there was both a problem with LeAnne’s demeanor, gate and her trying to over sing and upstage Carly. Carly’s face was a clear indicator of the problems in this duet and I wonder if she was giving a signal for someone to save her onstage. I just hope this doesn’t ruin Carly’s chances of winning. My DISH coworker is sure that Tate will win, but I’m leaning towards Carly Rose or Fifth Harmony now. We talked about it on the way to work because I had the ability to watch the last show in any room of my house this morning, with my DISH Hopper Whole-Home HD DVR. I start in the bedroom, pause, and then I can resume in the kitchen where I left off, and finish in the living room. That ability to multi-task when I’m getting ready in the morning means I get to watch more TV these days than when I didn’t have the Hopper.

The look on Britney’s face says it all, she hated it, but was too polite to say anything. She was probably about to say “shockingly awful”, but decided against it, last second..

    Leann was just awful! This song was originally sung by Trisha Yearwood
    who is an amazing singer..NOT Leann. They really should’ve asked her to
    sing this song. I was so sure she was drunk/high. She bobbled around
    the stage, didn’t enunciate her words and could barely remember them. I
    think Carly sounded much better

    Last nights performance could not have gone worse. I feel so bad for Carly Rose. LeAnn owes her 5 million dollars after that performance. Carly will go far despite that mess. I hope people look past LeAnn and give Carly the credit she deserves. Good Luck Carly

    I very much enjoyed her performance. Not much a country fan, I’d never been a Rimes fan, but now I could see buying some of her music. I saw ‘nothing drunk or stumbling.’. I recorded it for my bf to watch not telling of the controversy going on over this performance, so he wouldn’t have a preconceived decision made about it. He enjoyed it too and was surprised when I told him what was being said. I am curious at the fan base Granville has on the Internet, but it kind of reminds me of Salem.

    That kind of surprised me. I have a hard time believing Carly Rose considers Leann Rimes an idol and actually chose her and that song to sing. It looked like a put-up job to me. Sonenclar doesn’t even sing that kind of music.
    I think Rimes’ management paid for that opportunity to get Rimes back on a national stage in something resembling a positive light. Either that or the show had such a hard time booking talent this close to Christmas, they just took what they could get.
    What was really uncomfortable for me, watching, was the way Rimes obviously, embarrassingly, tried to outsing a 13-year old and failed. Flubbed it. To be fair, there are very few singers out there today that have the kind of singing chops Sonenclar has, even at 13, but Rimes should have graciously shifted the emphasis to the little girl and just relaxed.

    I think Carly tried to make the song her own…which they are taught to do to win, right? Leann didnt know what to do with it. Wasted? maybe but I think most of it was probably lack of rehearsal. Just bad arrangement. Really bad.
