Carly Rose Sonenclar’s “As Long As You Love Me” ‘Better’ Than Bieber’s on X Factor

One of music’s most promising young stars took on one of the most successful on Wednesday’s “X Factor,” where Carly Rose Sonenclar covered Justin Bieber.

The 13-year-old aspiring singer performed a stripped-down version of Bieber’s hit “As Long As You Love Me,” earning enthusiastic raves from the judges.

L.A. Reid, who is among the record execs responsible for launching Bieber’s career, said Sonenclar’s performance was one of her “best.”

“The one thing I’ve always been concerned about was how you could handle yourself as a recording artist,” Reid said before adding, “What I loved about that performance is that you actually showed some restraint.”

Demi Lovato was even more effusive in her praise, going as far as saying, “I love it when I hear unplugged versions of songs that are better than the actual songs. You sang it better than Justin did.”

Simon Cowell, who called the cover one of his “favorite” performances, told Sonenclar, “This is why I love working in this country. We find people like you.”

“And I’ve gotta tell you,” he continued, “I’m seeing a star emerge in front of me week after week after week.”

Sonenclar’s mentor Britney Spears selected “As Long As You Love Me” for the unplugged performance, and commended her contestant for making “each song your own.”

    I just watched the video of Carly. She’s really good. But I won’t be watching XFactor anymore. Since Vino was sent home last week I have lost interest.

    My predication is that years from now Carly will be as a singer in the same Class with Adele..

    I notice that when singers on these shows sing Justin Bieber songs they usually sing them a lot better then he did or even can.

    It seems Justin gets the really catchy/good songs but the performance is not up to par with the songs themselves….

    Carly is a good singer but even I can sing a Bieber song better then him. He’s a horrible singer. I do think it will come down to Carly and Tate. I hope Tate wins. He will be more marketable then Carly. She’s still too young. Nickelodean or Disney should grab her.

    Omg, she is nothing short of incredible. Her vocal range, power, control, stage presence, Commanding that stage, still, very much a 13 year old. Think about yourself at 13.

    Carly rose’s voice is powerful and she sings way better than Tate so I hope she wins and you right Tate does sing nice but Carly rose sins way better

    Carly Rose Sonenclar is phenomenal. She has the ‘X’ Factor in every way possible- fantastic voice, stage presence/charisma, adorable…#1 I predict , ‘Celine Dion’ type stardom!!!
    (Tate is also very good, ‘country-charm’ and very personable. Not as distinguished as Carly Rose,though.)

    Yeah, I wonder why CeCe hasn’t gone Gaga before since it is obviously a no brainer for the style she is partially emulating. She really did her best with that song too so it is a shame it was a bit too late. Perhaps it was her choice but she was held back. Carly did pretty well too with her Bieber song, which she made her own. I think Carly can and should win the 5 million but my DISH coworker thinks that Tate will win. I watch the show while I’m getting
    ready for work before I pick him up, so we can debate about it in the car on the way there. What I like about watching in the morning is that I start in the bedroom and then I can pause it, and continue watching in the Kitchen or living room, right where I left off. I use my DISH Hopper Whole Home HD DVR to skip around the rooms and I get to watch more TV I used to, as opposed to when I would just get ready for work.
