“Carey & Marcus On The Rocks” reads the headline of an OK! story that claims Carey Mulligan and her husband of two years Marcus Mumford are “headed for a split.”

According to the tabloid, the couple’s “fairytale may have an unhappy ending” because the actress and the Mumford & Sons singer are “so wrapped up in their careers that they’ve ended up in a long-distance relationship.”

“They never see each other,” a so-called “close friend” tells the magazine. “It’s hard to imagine them staying together.”

The “pal” alleges Mulligan wonders if she married Mumford before getting to know him well enough, noting, “They shouldn’t have jumped into marriage, because it was such a critical time in their careers.”

“There’s no question they love each other,” adds the supposed”insider,” “But what’s the point if they can never get together.”

OK! has a rich history of wrongly reporting made up stories about celebrity couples being on the “verge of a split.”

And the tradition continues here.

Mulligan’s rep exclusively tells Gossip Cop this story is “absolutely not true.”
