Candace Cameron Bure Cries Over San Bernardino Shooting (VIDEO)
Candace Cameron Bure broke down in tears on Thursday’s “The View” during a highly emotional Hot Topic segment on the tragic mass shooting in San Bernardino. Watch the video below.
Bure, who resides in California, said it was especially difficult for her to be away from her family in the aftermath of the tragedy. She was consoled by her other co-hosts as she pleaded for changes to the current U.S. gun laws.
“I’m a conservative person, and I believe in our Second Amendment rights. But there has to be something that is sensible between both parties,” said Bure to the applause of the studio audience. She added, “They need to have some common ground and have some sensible gun laws.”
Bure acknowledged that “terrorists are going to find [guns] and get them however they want.” But she insisted that “for people that maybe have mental illness problems, there should just be these checks.”
Her sentiments were echoed by her fellow co-host, while moderator Whoopi Goldberg questioned why the majority of Americans need to have access to powerful weapons. “Assault rifles are meant to do one thing,” she said. “That’s why they’re given to our soldiers. They’re meant to kill the other side.”
