Candace Cameron Bure Compares Obama’s View Of ISIS To Guy On Titanic Saying “Stay Calm” As It Sinks (VIDEO)
Candace Cameron Bure compared President Obama’s “calm” demeanor about ISIS and its terrorist threat on Wednesday’s “The View” to the “guy on the Titanic saying, ‘Stay calm, stay calm everybody, and just get into the boat,’ while it’s sinking.” Bure’s comment was in stark contrast to several of her co-hosts, who support Obama’s approach. Watch the video below.
After Whoopi Goldberg said they were going to break the “cardinal rule” of discussing politics at the Thanksgiving table, she showed a clip of the president saying rather cooly on Tuesday that ISIS “cannot defeat us on the battled field, so they tried to terrorize us at home,” adding, “We will not succumb to fear nor can we allow fear to divide us.” Goldberg noted that critics are saying Obama’s “too calm about ISIS,” and asked her co-hosts what they felt.
Joy Behar pointed out that the president is often referred to as “No drama Obama,” and expressed that she felt the situation with ISIS “calls for calm. Behar said, “Everyone’s jumping around, acting crazy,” while Obama’s “centered.” “Isn’t that what the the leader’s supposed to be, the center of calmness?” chimed in Raven-Symone.
After Goldberg further stated that we don’t need a commander-in-chief who scares the country saying, “They’re gonna come and gets us,” Behar interjected that Obama probably “doesn’t want to elevate ISIS.” She called the terrorist group “just a bunch of thugs, and [Obama’s] keeping it at that level.”
That’s when Bure said, “I like calm, cool, and collected,” but offered, “I feel like sometimes he’s the “guy on the Titanic saying, ‘Stay calm, stay calm everybody, and just get into the boat,’ while it’s sinking.”
