Cameron Douglas Gets Additional Prison Sentence for Drug Use Behind Bars

Cameron Douglas, son of Michael Douglas, was sentenced to four and a half more years in prison for possessing drugs while already jailed on other charges.

A New York judge handed down the decision on Wednesday.

The younger Douglas pleaded guilty to the new possession charges in October after being caught with heroin in his prison cell.

There were also instances in which an attorney visiting Douglas behind bars allegedly smuggled drugs to him in her bra.

“I don’t believe that I have had another case ever… of a defendant who has so recklessly, and flagrantly and wantonly, and criminally acted in as destructive and manipulative a fashion as Cameron Douglas,” announced Judge Richard Berman.

Douglas will begin serving the new sentence only after completing his current five-year sentence for drug possession and dealing.

That original punishment followed his being arrested for distributing crystal meth and cocaine in July 2009.

At the time, Michael Douglas described the punishment as “adequate.”

“My son was a drug dealer… and I can’t condone his behavior,” said the Oscar winner.

    it looks to me like michael douglas has done everything he possibly can for his son. I recall him and catherine zeta jones pleading with the judge to give cameron a chance. and cameron threw it away. I hate to say it, but this boy is just no good. in another five years behind bars, he will be so steeped in prison drug culture that life outside will be meaningless to him. what that boy threw away and what good he might have done in his life is tough to imagine. and he is too stoned to even give a damn.

    Yes, it is the heart-breaking ending for your child / adult child . . . . .
    I don’t understand, that there was NO severe punishment given to the attorney
    who took (hidden) on her person into the prison and she GAVE the DRUGS to
    Cameron Douglas ? ? ?
    That was the most un-believeable thing EVER ! ! !
    Could the Douglas’s have a civil case against the attorney? ? Yes, I know it will not give Cameron
    his life back. However, there maybe a slight, slight comfort in knowing she had to pay
    for her lack of good judgment and stupidity etc. etc.
    A VERY, VERY SAD CASE . . . . . . . . . . .
