Calvin Harris On Taylor Swift: I’m “Free”
As Gossip Cop has reported, it was revealed earlier this month that Harris and Swift had split. He posted on Twitter that there was still “love” between them, a message he later deleted after photos emerged off her canoodling with Tom Hiddleston in the wake of their breakup. But though the Scottish star then unfollowed his ex on social media, he is now following Swift again on Instagram.
And that apparently sparked a discussion of sorts in the comments of a music-related post Harris made Thursday. According to screengrabs, Harris said of the relationship’s aftermath, “She controlled the media and the situation, I had no idea what was going on. So that kind of makes it a lot worse from my perspective.” Asked about the following and re-following, Harris supposedly wrote, “I cared too much and then I didn’t care at all. I am real person remember.”
And when another user accused him of being “jealous,” Harris allegedly wrote back, “Not jealous sir, FREE.” In addition, though it’s been said he dumped Swift, another comment shows the deejay stating, “Bro I didn’t leave anyone and she’s def not sad. It’s all good.” The remarks prompted others on the Instagram feed to discuss the situation, and one came to Harris’ defense.
“It wasn’t rude of him to say that,” the person, actually a Swift fan, is seen writing in one of the screegrabs. “For all we know Taylor broke up with him to be with another man and that is quite upsetting. I would be hurt by that too. He’s not being mean. He deserves to feel free while he’s single and not jealous.”
In yet another screengrab, Harris is seen supposedly responding, “You’re the only smart one at this point.” Again, the legitimacy of these comments has not yet been confirmed. A rep for the EDM star did not immediately respond to a request for verification.
Regardless of who broke up with who, it’s worth noting that Gossip Cop was told long before the split was announced that a tabloid story claiming Swift wanted to “dump” Harris for Hiddleston (after their Met Gala dance-off) had “no truth” to it. More recently, on Wednesday, Gossip Cop was told “no one cheated” in response to another tabloid tale that made accusations against both sides.
