Calvin Harris Slams Taylor Swift In Twitter Rant After Confirmed She Wrote “This Is What You Came For”
As Gossip Cop has reported, Swift’s connection to the dance track, which features Rihanna on vocals, was first speculated about in April when she wore a jacket with a design that matched the song’s cover art. Then fans became commenting that part of the backing vocals sounded a lot like Swift’s signature voice, and questions were raised about the identity of the credited songwriter: Nils Sjoberg.
Now a rep for Swif tells Gossip Cop, “Taylor Swift wrote ‘This Is What You Came For’ under the pseudonym Nils Sjoberg.” Swift and Harris reportedly kept her involvement a secret initially because they didn’t want coverage of the song to affect their relationship. Of course, the former couple ended up splitting anyway.
Harris tweeted on Wednesday, “And she sings on a little bit of it too. Amazing lyric writer and she smashed it as usual.” But sweet compliments were followed minutes later by a rant ripping Swift and her camp for their alleged behavior in the wake of the breakup.
“I wrote the music, produced the song, arranged it and cut the vocals though. And initially she wanted it kept secret, hence the pseudonym,” the deejay said, before tweeting, “Hurtful to me at this point that her and her team would go so far out of their way to try and make ME look bad at this stage though.”
Harris went on to make references to both Tom Hiddleston and Katy Perry. “I figure if you’re happy in your new relationship you should focus on that instead of trying to tear your ex bf down for something to do,” he wrote. “I know you’re off tour and you need someone new to try and bury like Katy ETC but I’m not that guy, sorry. I won’t allow it.”
The Scottish star added, “Please focus on the positive aspects of YOUR life because you’ve earned a great one,” and concluded, “God bless everyone have a beautiful day.” Swift has not responded.” See screengrabs of Harris’ tweets below.
