Calvin Harris Avoiding Taylor Swift’s Friends?
In a piece called “Calvin: No Squad Goals,” OK! says that while Swift “turned heads” with Selena Gomez and Lorde at last month’s Vanity Fair Oscars party, “many wondered where her beau was.” The magazine’s explanation: “The DJ has made it clear that he prefers one-on-one time with the pop star.”
“He thinks it’s great that she has a close-knit group of friends, but he’d rather not partake in girls’ nights out,” a so-called “insider” is quoted as saying. OK! suggests, however, that Harris “may want to change his tune.” Its tipster adds, “He’d better get used to being around her pals more, because they’re not going anywhere.”
Please. After a year of dating, Harris is plenty “used to being around” Swift’s girlfriends by now. He didn’t attend the Oscars after-party with the superstar for the same reason he didn’t accompany her to the Grammys two weeks prior. Simply put, the couple doesn’t feel the need to do everything together, and instead balances their relationship with their respective professional obligations.
Besides, the notion that Harris wants to avoid Swift’s “squad” is ridiculous considering the stars’ first official event together was the Billboard Music Awards last May, where several of the women from the “Bad Blood” video joined them (see photo above). But Gossip Cop isn’t surprised to see OK! grasping at straws. After its September cover story about Swift and Harris having a “wedding & a baby” was proven false, both by Gossip Cop and time, the publication apparently felt the need to switch gears and make up a different angle.
