Calvin Harris On Taylor Swift’s Apple Victory: “My Girl Just Changed The Entire Music Industry”
As Gossip Cop reported, Swift penned an open letter to Apple on Sunday, saying her new album 1989 wouldn’t be available on its music streaming service because they refused to compensate artists, songwriters, and producers during the 90-day free-trial period they were offering to customers. Just a few hours after Swift wrote her letter, however, Apple Music announced that it was reversing course. Eddy Cue, one of Apple’s senior vice presidents, tweeted that the company “will always make sure that artist[s] are paid,” and announced “#AppleMusic will pay artist[s] for streaming, even during customer’s free trial period.” He specifically cited Swift as being the catalyst for the change in plans.
Immediately artists reached out to Swift on social media to congratulate and thank her for changing Apple’s mind. That included the pop star’s boyfriend, Harris, who tweeted early Monday morning, “I just played a gig inside a giant owl and my girl just changed the entire music industry what a day.” As Gossip Cop reported, Swift and Harris began dating earlier this year, and have slowly become more public with their relationship. What do you think of Harris celebrating Swift’s victory?
