Caleb Johnson shined with songs both big and small on “American Idol” on Wednesday.

For the night’s “breakups” theme, the contestant rocked out to “You Give Love A Bad Name” by Bon Jovi, and then switched things up with “Maybe I’m Amazed” by Paul McCartney for the “makeups” theme.

That one even earned a standing ovation from Jennifer Lopez and Keith Urban.

“Tonight I can honestly say you singing that was probably your best the performance since the beginning,” Lopez told Johnson.

Urban revealed, “As soon as you started playing it, I said ‘hallelujah, man.'”

“You nailed it,” he added. “Tat was a killer, killer performance.”

And Harry Connick Jr. noted, “It was so nice to hear you sing softly.

“Caleb, that was absolutely phenomenal,” declared the judge.

Johnson also won praise for “Travelin’ Band” by Creedence Clearwater Revival.
