Caleb Johnson gave it his all on Tuesday’s “American Idol” performance finale.

The Season 13 rocker started out extremely strong, getting a standing ovation from Keith Urban and Jennifer Lopez in the very first round for “Dream On” by Aerosmith.

“That’s what you gotta do!” declared Lopez. “You gotta come on, you gotta seize the moment, you gotta carpe diem — and that’s what you did!”

She went on, “That song, that may have did it right there!”

He followed that up with a reprise of his gorgeous take on “Maybe I’m Amazed” by Paul McCartney, but Harry Conick Jr. thought Jena Irene’s second round performance topped his, with the judges’ saying this rendition lacked “heart.”

Johnson closed out the night with by earning the judges’ approval for his performance of what will be his debut single, “As Long As You Love Me.”
