Jennifer Aniston “Stalks” Anna Kendrick’s Widower In Cake Trailer – WATCH VIDEO!
The official trailer for Cake, starring Jennifer Aniston, premiered on Tuesday. In it, Aniston stars as Claire Simmons, a woman who’s addicted to pain medication to ease her chronic pain. The film also stars Anna Kendrick as Nina, a member of Simmons’ chronic pain support group who commits suicide. Aniston’s character soon becomes fascinated with uncovering the details behind Nina’s death.
In the trailer, Simmons persuades her support group leader Annette (Felicity Huffman) to give her Nina’s address by gifting her a “really nice bottle of vodka,” so she could visit the dead woman’s home. When Nina’s widower Roy (Sam Worthington) answers the door, Simmons explains, “I’m not a stalker. Well, not in the traditional sense.” Roy later tells her, “I know about your accident. I can’t save you. I can barely save myself and my kid.” Simmons is also having visions of Nina, and at one point she hallucinates seeing Roy’s wife as she’s laying in bed with him. “What are you doing?” asks Nina, adding, “He doesn’t even like you.” Nina appears again when Simmons finds herself in the hospital. Throughout the clip, Aniston can be seen guzzling pills and alcohol to ease her physical and emotional pain.
Adriana Barraza, William H. Macy , Mamie Gummer and Chris Messina also star in the film directed Daniel Barnz. Aniston’s performance is already getting Oscar buzz following the movie’s debut at the Toronto Film Festival in September. Cake is slated for wide release in January 2015.
